The significant increase in online activities in the wake of recent global events has underlined the importance of biometric person authentication on digital platforms. Although many biometric devices may be used for precise biometric authentication, acquiring the necessary technology, such as 3D sensors or fingerprint scanners, can be prohibitively expensive and logistically challenging. Addressing the demands of online environments, where access to specialized hardware is limited, this paper introduces an innovative approach. In this work, by fusing static and dynamic signature data with facial data captured through regular computer cameras, a dataset of 1750 samples from 25 individuals is constructed. Deep learning models, including convolutional neural networks (CNN), long short-term memory (LSTM), gated recurrent unit (GRU), and temporal convolutional networks (TCN), are employed to craft a robust multi-classification model. This integration of various deep learning algorithms has demonstrated remarkable performance enhancements in biometric authentication. This research also underscores the potential of merging dynamic and static biometric features, derived from readily available sources, to yield a high-performance recognition framework. As online interactions continue to expand, the combination of various biometric modalities holds potential for enhancing the security and usability of virtual environments.

In this brief, conic section function neural network (CSFNN) circuitry was designed for offline signature recognition. CSFNN is a unified framework for multilayer perceptron (MLP) and radial basis function (RBF) networks to make simultaneous use of advantages of both. The CSFNN circuitry architecture was developed using a mixed mode circuit implementation. The designed circuit system is problem independent. Hence, the general purpose neural network circuit system could be applied to various pattern recognition problems with different network sizes on condition with the maximum network size of 16-16-8. In this brief, CSFNN circuitry system has been applied to two different signature recognition problems. CSFNN circuitry was trained with chip-in-the-loop learning technique in order to compensate typical analog process variations. CSFNN hardware achieved highly comparable computational performances with CSFNN software for nonlinear signature recognition problems.

The microgrid has two main steady-state modes: grid-connected mode and islanded mode. The microgrid needs a high-performance controller to reduce the overshoot value that affects the efficiency of the network. However, the high voltage value causes the inverter to stop. Thus, an improved power-sharing response to the transfer between these two modes must be insured. More important points to study in a microgrid are the current sharing and power (active or reactive) sharing, besides the match percentage of power sharing among parallel inverters and the overshoot of both active and reactive power. This article aims to optimize the power response in addition to voltage and frequency stability, in order to make this network’s performance more robust against external disturbance. This can be achieved through a self-tuning control method using an optimization algorithm. Here, the optimized droop control is provided by the H-infinity (H∞) method improved with the artificial bee colony algorithm. To verify the results, it was compared with different algorithms such as conventional droop control, conventional particle swarm optimization, and artificial bee colony algorithms. The implementation of the optimization algorithm is explained using the time domain MATLAB/SIMULINK simulation model.
