I serve as the University of California Cooperative Extension Dairy Advisor for Fresno, Madera, and Kings Counties. I hold a DVM from the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais in Brazil and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis, where my research focused on the physiology and immunology of the dairy cow’s mammary gland. My career spans both the academic and private sectors, with a focus on animal health and welfare, food safety, milk quality and mastitis, wastewater management, and dairy systems management. Before joining UCCE, I was a Technical Services Specialist at DeLaval Inc., where I conducted field trials, developed technical content, and trained employees in close collaboration with veterinarians and consultants. I also served as a Microbiologist – Dairy Specialist at the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory in Amarillo, TX, where I supported the regional dairy industry through diagnostic services and outreach. My research interests include the environmental impacts of dairy production and improving herd health and welfare. As a Dairy Advisor, my goal is to develop science-based, practical solutions that promote the sustainability of dairy operations.
