Dr. E. Chavez Angel was awarded his PhD in Physics in 2014 for his research on phonons in silicon nanomembranes which included a pioneering contactless characterisation method for thermal measurements. The thesis was classed as -EXCEL·LENT CUM LAUDE. His research expertise is mainly in thermal, phononic and photonic properties at the nanoscale in solids and fluids, using light scattering and transport methods. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the ICN2 focusing on experimental and theoretical research of thermal and optical properties of two-dimensional quantum materials. He has authored 49 ISI-indexed papers (incl. 2 Nature comms, 2 Nano letters, 2 Phys. Rev. Lett., 2 Adv. Funct. Mat., 1 J. Mater. Chem. A and 2 Nanoscale, 3 book chapters) cited over 1000 times.
