Dr. Andrea Vinci has been a Researcher at ICAR-CNR since January 2016, where he has worked in various positions since September 2012. He earned a Ph.D. in System Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Calabria (Italy), where he also earned a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering (summa cum laude). His research work mainly focuses on edge intelligence, cognitive environments, the Internet of Things, cyber-physical systems, and quantum computing. In these areas, he has published more than 40 papers in international conferences, proceedings, and journals, contributing to the definitions of platforms and methodologies for the design and implementation of cyber-physical systems, the design of distributed algorithms for efficient control of urban infrastructure such as drainage networks based on swarm intelligence and peer-to-peer techniques, analysis and forecasting of Smart City data, and AI techniques for smart and cognitive environments. His interest in quantum computing is currently focused on variational quantum algorithms, particularly the design of problem-specific ansatze for solving edge-related optimization problems, and quantum error mitigation. He has held the role of scientific technical evaluator for MISE projects since 2019. He has participated in research projects such as iAmica, ResNovae, Domus, and Cogito, where he carried out both scientific and coordination activities.
