Information

Dr. Ranjana Bhattacharjee is a Senior Scientist/Molecular Breeder at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, Ibadan, Nigeria. Her research objective is to utilize interdisciplinary knowledge and background in plant breeding, molecular biology, statistical genetics, and computing skills to develop efficient and effective breeding platforms for crop improvement. She has immensely enjoyed working in developing countries or regions with multiple challenges, which gave her the enthusiasm to aim towards research needs that can impact any crop improvement program. Her experience working in two CGIAR institutes (ICRISAT, Patancheru, India; IITA, Ibadan, Nigeria) based in developing countries provided her with the opportunity to fulfill her drive and allowed her to develop different skills in training and supervising, ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment, multi-tasking, and organizing herself to produce results efficiently even under stressful conditions and short deadlines. Her experience encompasses conventional plant breeding and a wide range of state-of-art molecular biology techniques and advanced knowledge of biostatistics and bioinformatics, including cereals, legumes and clonally propagated crops.
