Carina Wiekens is a full Professor of Sustainable Behaviour at Hanze University of Applied Sciences. Her research focuses on social and behavioural processes in the energy transition. She studied psychology (social, cognitive and clinical psychology) at the University of Groningen and obtained a PhD in the social cognitive sciences at the Tilburg Institute for Behavioral Economics Research (Tilburg University). She authored numerous scientific and professional articles, book chapters and several books on behaviour change. Her research group is involved in the development and implementation of a large number of energy-related behaviour and community change programmes. Wiekens is a member of the advisory board of an umbrella organisation for local energy cooperations (GrEK) and of several sustainable start-ups. She frequently speaks at expert meetings and conferences organized by professional associations, universities, and governments (municipalities, provinces and national ministries).
