Vehicular edge computing (VEC) effectively reduces the computational burden on vehicles by offloading tasks from resource-constrained vehicles to edge nodes. However, non-uniformly distributed vehicles offloading a large number of tasks cause load imbalance problems among edge nodes, resulting in performance degradation. In this paper, we propose a deep reinforcement learning-based decision scheme for task offloading and load balancing with the optimization objective of minimizing the system cost considering the split offloading of tasks and the load dynamics of edge nodes. First, we model the mutual interaction between mobile vehicles and Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) servers using a Markov decision process. Second, the optimal task-offloading and resource allocation decision is obtained by utilizing the twin delayed deep deterministic policy gradient algorithm (TD3), and server load balancing is achieved through edge collaboration using a server selection algorithm based on the technique for order preference by similarity to the ideal solution (TOPSIS). Finally, we have conducted extensive simulation experiments and compared the results with several other baseline schemes. The proposed scheme can more effectively reduce the system cost and increase the system resource utilization.

As an auxiliary facility, roadside units (RSUs) can well improve the shortcomings incurred by ad hoc networks and promote network performance in a vehicular ad hoc network (VANET). However, deploying a large number of RSUs will lead to high installation and maintenance costs. Therefore, trying to find the best locations is a key issue when deploying RSUs with the set delay and budget. In this paper, we study the delay-bounded and cost-limited RSU deployment (DBCL) problem in urban VANET. We prove it is non-deterministic polynomial-time hard (NP-hard), and a binary differential evolution scheme is proposed to maximize the number of roads covered by deploying RSUs. Opposite-based learning is introduced to initialize the first generation, and a binary differential mutation operator is designed to obtain binary coding. A random variable is added to the traditional crossover operator to increase population diversity. Also, a greedy-based individual reparation and promotion algorithm is adopted to repair infeasible solutions violating given constraints, and to gain optimal feasible solutions with the compromise of given limits. Moreover, after selection, a solution promotion algorithm is executed to promote the best solution found in generation. Simulation is performed on analog trajectories sets, and results show that our proposed algorithm has a higher road coverage ratio and lower packet loss compared with other schemes.

Mobile edge computing extends the capabilities of the cloud to the edge to meet the latency performance required by new types of applications. Task caching reduces network energy consumption by caching task applications and associated databases in advance on edge devices. However, determining an effective caching strategy is crucial since users generate numerous repetitive tasks, but edge devices and storage resources are limited. We aimed to address the problem of highly coupled decision variables in dynamic task caching and computational offloading for multiuser multitasking in mobile edge computing systems. This paper presents a joint computation and caching framework with the aim of minimizing delays and energy expenditure for mobile users and transforming the problem into a form of reinforcement learning. Based on this, an improved deep reinforcement learning algorithm, P-DDPG, is proposed to achieve efficient computation offloading and task caching decisions for mobile users. The algorithm integrates a deep and deterministic policy grading and a prioritized empirical replay mechanism to reduce system costs. The simulations show that the designed algorithm performs better in terms of task latencies and lower computing power consumption.

Over the last few years, neural architecture search (NAS) technology has achieved good results in hyperspectral image classification. Nevertheless, existing NAS-based classification methods have not specifically focused on the complex connection between spectral and spatial data. Strengthening the integration of spatial and spectral features is crucial to boosting the overall classification efficacy of hyperspectral images. In this paper, a triple-unit hyperspectral NAS network (TUH-NAS) aimed at hyperspectral image classification is introduced, where the fusion unit emphasizes the enhancement of the intrinsic relationship between spatial and spectral information. We designed a new hyperspectral image attention mechanism module to increase the focus on critical regions and enhance sensitivity to priority areas. We also adopted a composite loss function to enhance the model’s focus on hard-to-classify samples. Experimental evaluations on three publicly accessible hyperspectral datasets demonstrated that, despite utilizing a limited number of samples, TUH-NAS outperforms existing NAS classification methods in recognizing object boundaries.

Clustering is widely used as an unsupervised learning algorithm. However, it is often necessary to manually enter the number of clusters, and the number of clusters has a great impact on the clustering effect. At present, researchers propose some algorithms to determine the number of clusters, but the results are not very good for determining the number of clusters of data sets with complex and scattered shapes. To solve these problems, this paper proposes using the Gaussian Kernel density estimation function to determine the maximum number of clusters, use the change of center point score to get the candidate set of center points, and further use the change of the minimum distance between center points to get the number of clusters. The experiment shows the validity and practicability of the proposed algorithm.

In response to image degradation caused by rain during image acquisition, this paper proposes a rain removal method for single image of dual-branch joint network based on a sparse Transformer (DBSTNet). The developed model comprises a rain removal subnet and a background recovery subnet. The former extracts rain trace information utilizing a rain removal strategy, while the latter employs this information to restore background details. Furthermore, a U-shaped encoder-decoder branch (UEDB) focuses on local features to mitigate the impact of rainwater on background detail textures. UEDB incorporates a feature refinement unit to maximize the contribution of the channel attention mechanism in recovering local detail features. Additionally, since tokens with low relevance in the Transformer may influence image recovery, this study introduces a residual sparse Transformer branch (RSTB) to overcome the limitations of the Convolutional Neural Network’s (CNN’s) receptive field. Indeed, RSTB preserves the most valuable self-attention values for the aggregation of features, facilitating high-quality image reconstruction from a global perspective. Finally, the parallel dual-branch joint module, composed of RSTB and UEDB branches, effectively captures the local context and global structure, culminating in a clear background image. Experimental validation on synthetic and real datasets demonstrates that rain removal images exhibit richer detail information, significantly improving the overall visual effect.
