Biography

Jurij J. Sidor is a full professor at Eötvös Lorand University (ELTE), Faculty of Informatics, Savaria Institute of Technology in Hungary. He gained his PhD in the field of Materials Science in 2004, habilitation as an associate professor in Materials Science and Technology in 2017, and defended the doctoral thesis to gain the academic title of Doctor of Sciences (DrSc) in 2021. In his research career, he has been working at the Institute of Materials Research of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (Slovakia), Delft University of Technology (Netherlands), Ghent University (Belgium), University of Science and Technology of Beijing (China), and University of West Hungary (Hungary). His research activities are related to the development of both novel processing technologies and quantitative physically based models. These numerical approaches help optimize production technology and materials’ properties. His research area covers the field of virtual material processing, materials characterization by scanning electron microscopy, electron backscatter diffraction, indentation, and mechanical testing. He received several national and international awards and recognitions for numerous discoveries in the fields of modeling and the examination of microstructure and texture evolution in polycrystalline metallic systems.
