Ali Morsali attended Tarbiat Moallem University, Tehran, and earned a B.S. degree in Chemistry. He received his MS degree in Inorganic Chemistry from Zanjan University, Zanjan. He then attended graduate school at Tarbiat Modares University, Tehran, and earned his Ph.D. in 2003. He began his independent career at Tarbiat Modares University where he has been a Professor in the Department of Chemistry since 2012. In 2016, he spent six months on a sabbatical period with Prof. Hupp and Prof. Farha's group at Northwestern University. He also spent another six months on a sabbatical period with Prof. Omar Yaghi's group at Berkeley in 2017. Recently, in the summer of 2019, he spent three months as a scientist visitor from Dusseldorf University with Prof. Christoph Janiak's group. His research interests are primarily inorganic chemistry, coordination polymers, and metal–organic frameworks.
