Prof. Dr. Waleed Mohamed Reyan Hamza Aly El-Din obtained their Ph.D. from Italy in 1994 in Aquatic Ecology (Union of Parma, Ferrara, Bologna and Roma La Sapienza Universities, Italy). He has worked at Alexandria University (Egypt) and then with the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) since 2000. From 2001 to 2011, he has occupied two administrative positions: 2001–2003, he was the Director of the MSc program in Environmental Science at UAEU; from 2002 until 2011, he was the Chairman of the Biology Department, Faculty of Science, UAEU. He has been and still acts as a Principal Investigator of different research projects in the field of Oceanography and Aquatic Ecology in Africa, Europe, and Asia. He has obtained many research grants during the last 7 years and organized different International conferences in Egypt, Italy, Finland, Canada, and the UAE. He has participated in more than 80 International, regional and local conferences and supervised and awarded different PhD and MSc degrees in Egypt, Switzerland, Italy, and the UAE in the field of Aquatic Ecology. He also has > 65 peer-reviewed scientific articles.
