Dr. Elizabeth Lorraine Jaimes Hoy is a researcher in the Departamento de Genética del Desarrollo y Fisiología Molecular at the Instituto de Biotecnología (IBt) of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and an academic tutor within UNAM's Posgrado en Ciencias Bioquímicas. The laboratory studies how thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) neurons of the paraventricular nucleus (PVN) and the hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid (HPT) axis regulate energy metabolism, with sex as a central biological variable. Research interests include the neural circuits that link the hypothalamus to metabolic tissues, the effects of chronic exercise on neuroendocrine function, and the role of thyroid hormones in brown adipose tissue biology and its secreted factors (batokines).
