Hakil Kim received a B.S. degree in Control and
Instrumentation Engineering from Seoul National University, Korea, in 1983 and
M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Purdue
University, West Lafayette, IN, US, in 1985 and 1990, respectively. In 1990, he
joined the College of Engineering, Inha University, Incheon, Korea, where he is
currently a full professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer
Engineering. He founded a start-up company, Visionin Inc., in 2014 and served
as the CEO until 2023. From 2003 to 2018, he was actively involved as a project
editor of the International Standardization of Biometrics at ISO/IEC JTC1/SC37.
His research interests include biometrics, intelligent video surveillance, and
embedded vision for autonomous vehicles.
