This article proposes an end-to-end method based on an improved convolutional neural network model for inverter fault diagnosis. First, transient time-domain sequence data under different faults are analyzed, and raw signals are taken as fault representations without manually selecting feature extraction methods. Second, the model can automatically learn and extract features in the input domain using stacked convolution layers with the wide first-layer convolution kernel and a global max pooling layer; thus, it eliminated the influence of expert experience. Finally, the fault diagnosis results of the three-phase voltage-source inverter are automatically obtained in the softmax layer. The proposed fault diagnosis method has superior recognition performance with mixed noise data and variable load data. Contrastive experiments show that the improved fault diagnosis model is effective than traditional machine learning and other deep learning methods.

To address the problem, it is difficult to extract fault features for neutral-point-clamped (NPC) three-level inverters under nonstationary conditions. This article proposes a multi-information feature fusion diagnosis method based on attention collaborative stacked long short-term memory (ASLSTM) neural networks. First, parallel structural stacked LSTM networks are constructed, which are used to automatically extract features from multisource time-series data. Then, the attention mechanism is applied to weight these features adaptively. Finally, the fault is identified by features that integrate multiple sources of information. In addition, the quantum particle swarm optimization (QPSO) algorithm is used to intelligently tune the hyperparameters of ASLSTM to improve the reasonableness of hyperparameter selection for the diagnostic model. The simulation results of the fault diagnosis of the NPC three-level inverter circuit show that the proposed method is able to extract high-discriminative features from raw data and has better diagnostic results under various conditions compared with other schemes.

The identification of values of solar cell parameters is of great interest for evaluating solar cell performances. The algorithm of an artificial bee colony was used to extract model parameters of solar cells from current-voltage characteristics. Firstly, the best-so-for mechanism was introduced to the original artificial bee colony. Then, a method was proposed to identify parameters for a single diode model and double diode model using this improved artificial bee colony. Experimental results clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method and its superior performance compared to other competing methods.

Photovoltaic (PV) cell (PVC) modeling predicts the behavior of PVCs in various real-world environmental settings and their resultant current–voltage and power–voltage characteristics. Focusing on PVC parameter identification, this study presents an enhanced particle swarm optimization (EPSO) algorithmto accurately and efficiently extract optimal PVC parameters. Specifically, the EPSO algorithm optimizes the minimum mean squared error between measured and estimated data and, on this basis, extractsthe parameters of the single-, double-, and triple-diode models and the PV module. To examine its effectiveness, the proposed EPSO algorithm is compared with other swarm optimization algorithms. The effectiveness of the proposed EPSO algorithm is validated through simulation. In addition, the proposed EPSO algorithm also exhibits advantages such as an excellent optimization performance, a high parameter estimation accuracy, and a low computational complexity.

In practical fault diagnosis, the monitoring fault data is accumulated incrementally, it is necessary to detect the newly added fault data. To this end, this paper proposed a broad residual network (BRES) fault diagnosis method with incremental learning capability. Firstly, the deep feature representation of the raw data is obtained by the residual network, and the obtained features and corresponding labels are then updated to the BLS. For the newly collected data, the incremental learning of new fault modes is achieved by automatic feature extraction of the ResNet and the node expansion of the BLS. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by motor-driven converters fault diagnosis. Experimental results indicate that the method can effectively update the diagnosis model to incrementally learn new fault categories and new fault modes.
