Biography

Dr. FRANCESCA DURATURO is an Italian biologist who has a Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology from Federico II University of Naples (2005) and is a specialist in Medical Genetics who has worked at Sapienza University of Rome (2009). Dr. Duraturo studies the molecular basis of hereditary tumors with a research focus on the field of gastrointestinal hereditary tumors. In particular, Dr. Duraturo's specific areas of research include the molecular mechanisms responsible for the phenotypic manifestation of LS, such as the characterization of novel pathogenic variants in non-canonical genes, the role of alternative splicing, large genomic rearrangements, the application of multivariate analysis in the study of VUS, and the discovery of new molecular markers in LS tumorigenesis. Furthermore, she has collaborated on studies regarding the epithelial–mesenchymal transition of sporadic colorectal cancers. Dr. Duraturo is the author of over 50 scientific articles published in international journals and has been a contributor to 5 scientific chapters in international books.
