Dr Teresa Fidélis is Assistant Professor with Habilitation in the Department of Environment and Planning, and an Integrated researcher in the Research Unit on Governance, Competitiveness, and Public Policies (GOVCOPP), of the University of Aveiro. She holds a PhD in Applied Sciences Environmental Sciences, a Master of Philosophy in Town and Country Planning and a BSc (5yr) Urban and Regional Planning. She teaches courses at Master and PhD levels on Environmental Planning, Environmental Impact, and Strategic Assessment and Environmental Legislation and has integrated several international research projects on environmental and land-use planning and governance. She has also coordinated or integrated teams evaluating regional land-use plans, river basin management plans, local environmental plans, local agendas 21, strategic environmental assessments, and carrying out the ex-ante evaluations of plans, among others. Dr Fidélis has robust experience in authoring scientific publications in her field and in supervising PhD thesis and MSc dissertations. She also has relevant experience in effective environmental governance as President of the River Basin Authority of the Center, IP and of the Board of the Polis Litoral Ria de Aveiro, SA. (Portugal) (2007-2012), as Regional Director of the National Institute of Nature Conservation and Forests, IP, and as a member of the Executive National Board of the Institute (2019-2020).
