The objective of this study was to evaluate the competitiveness of two cultivars of upland rice drought-tolerant, cultured in coexistence with weed S. verticillata, under conditions of absence and presence of water stress. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse at the Experimental Station of the Universidade Federal de Tocantins, Gurupi-TO Campus. The experimental design was completely randomized in a factorial 2 x 2 x 4 with four replications. The treatments consisted of two rice cultivars under two water conditions and four densities. At 57 days after emergence, were evaluated in rice cultivars and weed S. verticillata leaf area, dry weight of roots and shoots and total concentration and depth of roots. Was also evaluated in rice cultivars, plant height and number of tillers. Water stress caused a reduction in leaf area, the concentration of roots and vegetative components of dry matter (APDM, and MSR MST) of rice cultivars and Jatoba Catetão and weed S. verticillata. The competition established by the presence of the weed provided reduction of all vegetative components (MSPA, and MSR MST) of cultivars and Jatoba Catetão. It also decreased the number of tillers, the concentration of roots and leaf area. At the highest level of weed competition with rice cultivars, a greater decrease in vegetative components and leaf area of culture, regardless of water conditions.

The objective of the present work was to evaluate the technological quality of four sugarcane (Saccharum spp.) cultivars as a function of I.I. (Intensity of Infestation) of sugarcane borer (Diatraea Saccharalis). The design used was completely randomized with four treatments (CTC9001BT, CTC20BT, CTC9001 and RB975952) and six replications. The parameters evaluated were I.I. (Intensity of Infestation), °Brix (Contents of Soluble Solids), TCH (Total Sugarcane per Hectare), Fiber, Purity and Pol Broth (Apparent Sucrose). In I.I. (Intensity of Infestation) of Diatraea Saccharalis, cultivars CTC9001BT and CTC20BT showed the lowest percentages, with 0.71% and 0.89% respectively. In °Brix (Contents of Soluble Solids), there was no difference. In TCH (Total Sugarcane per Hectare), the CTC20BT variety had the highest result with an average of 79.63 t/h. In Fiber, cultivars CTC9001BT and RB975952 presented the highest averages, 12.86% and 13.09% respectively. Purity and Pol Broth (Apparent Sucrose) had no significant differences. In this study, different infestations of Diatraea Saccharalis had little influence on the technological quality of sugarcane varieties. Parameters such as °Brix (Contents of Soluble Solids), Purity and Pol Broth (Apparent Sucrose), had no differences, since the variables that differed were TCH (Total Sugarcane per Hectare) and Fiber.

The study aimed to evaluate post-harvest characteristics of parthenocarpic watermelon fruits obtained with use of 2,4-D, the experiment was conducted at the Experimental Station of the Federal University of Tocantins/Campus-Gurupi in the Department of Olericulture, located in the southern region of the State of Tocantins. The treatments consisted of five doses of 2,4-D (150, 175, 200, 225 and 250 mg L-1), plus a control treatment, which are the fruits obtained by natural fertilization. The characteristics were evaluated: average fruit weight; fruit shape; pattern of stripes; shell thickness in the distal region; External fruit color; total soluble solids (°Brix) and color of pulp. The plant regulator affected all evaluated characteristics. For fruit shape, pulp firmness, external coloring of the shell and pulp suffered less influence with the application of the regulator. Average fruit mass, bark thickness, ºBrix and striped pattern were the characteristics most affected by 2,4-D.
