Massimiliano Caprio is a Full Professor of Endocrinology and Human Nutrition at San Raffaele Roma Open University in Rome. He has been the head of the Laboratories of Cardiovascular Endocrinology at the Research Center of IRCCS San Raffaele Pisana since 2008 and has worked as a consultant diabetologist at the University of Rome Tor Vergata since 2007. He has internationally recognized expertise in the exploration of the roles of mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) activation in obesity and metabolic syndrome. He has been a recipient of prestigious research grants as a PI: Fondation pour la Recherche Medical (France), Italian Ministry of Health. He has contributed a large amount of work on the pathophysiology of adipose proliferation and endothelial inflammation. He has published 142 papers with 5798 citations and an h-index of 40 (Scopus, 4 December 2023). His research topics mainly include: adipose tissue, weight loss, and obesity.
