Francesca Zazzeroni graduated in Biological Sciences at the University of L’Aquila, Italy in 1994, and obtained a PhD in Experimental Medicine at the University of L’Aquila, Italy in 1999. She worked as a research associate at the Ben May Institute for Cancer Research, University of Chicago, Chicago, IL, USA from 1999 to 2003. She is currently a full professor of Medical and Biotechnology Laboratory Techniques at the University of L’Aquila, Italy. The focus of her research has been the understanding of the mechanisms through which NF-κB drives oncogenesis by integrating the signaling networks governing cancer-cell survival and TME-based inflammation, and the cancer-selective targeting of the NF-κB effectors as a novel therapeutic intervention. She was awarded the Fellowship “Leonino Fontana e Maria Lionello” for Cancer Research, Fondazione Italiana per la Ricerca sul Cancro (FIRC) (1999), and the “AICC Prize for Senior Investigators” (2008).
