Rafał Krela received his PhD in Biology Science from Adam Mickiewicz University (AMU) in Poznań, Poland, in 2021 for his work on plant nucleases involved in programmed cell death. He worked as a Principal Investigator in NCN Preludium Grant (2020-2023) on extracellular nucleases in Acanthamoeba castellanii at AMU, and later joined the Biology Centre CAS in Czechia as a
Postdoctoral Researcher (2021–2025), where he was awarded an MSCA ERA fellowship on the ancestral function of epigenetic modifications and PRC2 in green algae. Since 2025, he has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Plant Physiology at AMU. His research topics mainly include nucleases, plant programmed cell death, and the evolution of epigenetic mechanisms in green algae.
