Dr. Yung-Liang Wan graduated from the National Taiwan University in 1980. He completed his 4 years of Resident Training in the Department of Radiology, Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital (CGMH), Chang Gung University (CGU). He passed the qualification examination of the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in 1989.
Currently, he is a Professor of Radiology at Linkou CGMH, CGU. He was a Chairman of the Department of Medical Imaging and Intervention, Linkou CGMH for 18 years (1993 to 2011), Director of Department and post-graduate institute of Medical Imaging and Radiological Sciences, College of Medicine, CGU for 23 years (1995 to 2019).
He was the President of Taiwan Society of Ultrasound in Medicine (TSUM, 2002 to 2004), a Treasurer (2014 to 2016), Secretary (2016 to 2018), and President-Elect (2018 to 2020) of the Asian Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (AFSUMB). He is the current President of AFSUMB (2020 to 2022). He edited a book entitled “General Ultrasound”, a contributor of 6 book chapters, has published 365 peer-reviewed articles, and has delivered 76 invited domestic lectures and 105 international speeches. A winner of 21 honors/awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award bestowed by the TSUM in 2021, and has become an honorary member of Japan Society of Ultrasonics in Medicine since 2022.
