Dr. Yoko Matsuzaki currently works as an Associate Professor at the Department of Infectious Diseases, Yamagata University Faculty of Medicine, 2-2-2 Iida-Nishi, Yamagata, Japan. She earned a Ph.D. (medicine) degree at Yamagata University in 1994. She is a member of the Japanese Pediatric Society, the Japanese Society of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, the Japanese Society of Virology, the Japanese Society of Clinical Virology, and the Japan Society for Infectious Diseases. Her research is mainly focused on molecular biology studies of respiratory virus ecology, and the research topic is to elucidate the ecology of individual viruses by analyzing how infectious diseases spread from both microbes and hosts. Her research interests include virology, the seasonality of human coronaviruses, influenzavirus C, hemagglutinin esterase, and community-acquired pneumonia.
