Prof. Vincenzo Piemonte is a full professor at the University “Campus Bio-Medico” of Rome (Academic courses on Chemical Engineering Principles, Chemical Reactors, Biotech Processes, and Artificial Organ Engineering). He is President of the M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering for Sustainable Development and Head of the Laboratory of Chemical Physics Fundamentals in Chemical Engineering. He has been an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering of the University “La Sapienza” of Rome. His research activity is primarily focused on the study of transport phenomena in artificial and bioartificial organs; a new biotreatment technology platform for the elimination of toxic pollutants from water; the reuse of waste materials for the production of adsorbent materials for water treatment and zeolitic catalysts for the pyrolysis of waste plastic products; the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of petroleum-based plastics and bio-based plastics; the extraction of valuable substances (polyphenols, tannins) from natural matrices; hydrogen production by membrane reactors; and concentrated Solar Power Plants integrated with membrane steam reforming reactors for the production of hydrogen and hydro-methane. He has about 160 publications on chemical thermodynamics, kinetics, biomedical device modeling, Bioreactors, and LCA studies.
