Wireless sensor network (WSN) consists of a large number of sensor nodes distributed over a certain target area. The WSN plays a vital role in surveillance, advanced healthcare, and commercialized industrial automation. Enhancing energy-efficiency of the WSN is a prime concern because higher energy consumption restricts the lifetime (LT) of the network. Clustering is a powerful technique widely adopted to increase LT of the network and reduce the transmission energy consumption. In this article (LT) we develop a novel ARSH-FATI-based Cluster Head Selection (ARSH-FATI-CHS) algorithm integrated with a heuristic called novel ranked-based clustering (NRC) to reduce the communication energy consumption of the sensor nodes while efficiently enhancing LT of the network. Unlike other population-based algorithms ARSH-FATI-CHS dynamically switches between exploration and exploitation of the search process during run-time to achieve higher performance trade-off and significantly increase LT of the network. ARSH-FATI-CHS considers the residual energy, communication distance parameters, and workload during cluster heads (CHs) selection. We simulate our proposed ARSH-FATI-CHS and generate various results to determine the performance of the WSN in terms of LT. We compare our results with state-of-the-art particle swarm optimization (PSO) and prove that ARSH-FATI-CHS approach improves the LT of the network by ~ 25%.

Since unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can be controlled remotely in the absence of a unified means of identity authentication, they are quite vulnerable for illegal control by unidentifiable users. Only by tracing the identity of UAV itself, or providing management to pilots, current UAV identity authentication mechanism is far from achieving “single machine for single person.” With the development of artificial intelligence, it is possible to achieve automatic UAV identification. Therefore, this article proposes a behavior-based intelligent UAV identification and security supervision. Based on location tracking and flying data acquisition provided by the airborne black box, the UAV's behavioral data are collected on real time. Then, a reliable identification of UAVs is completed through the behavioral modeling, and a warning is issued in the potential illegal cases. It provides the government with intelligent control and disposal decision basis for flying UAVs.

Microblogging networks have gained popularity in recent years as a platform enabling expressions of human emotions, through which users can conveniently produce contents on public events, breaking news, and/or products. Subsequently, microblogging networks generate massive amounts of data that carry opinions and mass sentiment on various topics. Herein, microblogging is regarded as a useful platform for detecting and propagating new hot events. It is also a useful channel for identifying high-quality posts, popular topics, key interests, and high-influence users. The existence of noisy data in the traditional social media data streams enforces to focus on human-centric computing. This paper proposes a human-centric social computing (HCSC) model for hot-event detection and propagation in microblogging networks. In the proposed HCSC model, all posts and users are preprocessed through hypertext induced topic search (HITS) for determining high-quality subsets of the users, topics, and posts. Then, a latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA)-based multiprototype user topic detection method is used for identifying users with high influence in the network. Furthermore, an influence maximization is used for final determination of influential users based on the user subsets. Finally, the users mined by influence maximization process are generated as the influential user sets for specific topics. Experimental results prove the superiority of our HCSC model against similar models of hot-event detection and information propagation.

Popular Blockchain-based cryptocurrencies, like Bitcoin, are increasingly being used maliciously for illegal trades. In order to trace and analyze suspected Bitcoin transactions and addresses, address clustering methods and Bitcoin flow analysis methods are gaining attention recently. However, existing methods only focus on Bitcoin addresses and flow, and neglect other important information, such as transaction structure and behavior features. In order to exploit all useful features of transactions, this paper proposes a Bitcoin transaction network analytic method for facilitating Blockchain forensic investigation based on an extended safe Petri Net. The structural features and dynamic semantics of Petri net are used in our proposed model to define the static and dynamic features of Bitcoin transactions. Nineteen features have been identified to define Bitcoin transaction patterns for analyzing and finding suspected addresses. Bitcoin gene has been embedded into the Petri net transitions to trace and analyze Bitcoin flow accurately. Finally, marginal distribution analysis of Bitcoin transaction features and data visualization techniques are used to eliminate some false positive samples further and to improve the accuracy of identifying suspected addresses. The proposed Bitcoin transaction network analytic method provides a reliable forensic investigation model along with a prototype platform which is beneficial for financial security. The efficiency of our proposed method is empirically verified based on a real-life case study analysis.

Fog Computing is gaining popularity and is being increasingly deployed in various latency-sensitive application domains including industrial IoTs. However, efficient discovery of services is one of the prevailing issues in the fog nodes of indus-trial IoTs which restrain their efficiencies in availing appropriate services to the clients. To address this issue, this paper proposes a novel effi-cient multilevel index model based on equivalence relation, named the DM-index model, for service maintenance and retrieval in the fog layer of industrial IoTs to eliminate redundancy, narrow the search space, reduce both the traversed number of services and retrieval time, ultimately to improve the service discovery efficiency. The efficiency of the proposed index model has been verified theoretically and evaluated experimentally, which demonstrates that the proposed model is effective in achieving much better service discovery and retrieval performance than the sequential and inverted index models.

The increasing deployments of 5G mobile communication system is expected to bring more processing power and storage supplements to Internet of Things (IoT) and mobile devices. It is foreseeable the billions of devices will be connected and it is extremely likely that these devices receive compute supplements from Clouds and upload data to the back-end datacentres for execution. Increasing number of workloads at the Cloud datacentres demand better and efficient strategies of resource management in such a way to boost the socio-economic benefits of the service providers. To this end, this paper proposes an intelligent prediction framework named IGRU-SD (Improved Gated Recurrent Unit with Stragglers Detection) based on state-of-art data analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques, aimed at predicting the anticipated level of resource requests over a period of time into the future. Our proposed prediction framework exploits an improved GRU neural network integrated with a resource straggler detection module to classify tasks based on their resource intensity, and further predicts the expected level of resource requests. Performance evaluations conducted on real-world Cloud trace logs demonstrate that the proposed IGRU-SD prediction framework outperforms the existing predicting models based on ARIMA, RNN and LSTM in terms of the achieved prediction accuracy.
