Prof. Cuiying Zhou is a Retired Professor at the School of Civil Engineering at Sun Yat-sen University. She received her BS (1986), MSc (1989), and PhD (1992) in Engineering Geology from China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). Her research results have won the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Special Prize, the Second Prize, and the Ministry of Education’s Higher Education Science and Technology Progress Second Prize. Her research focuses include the deformation and failure mechanism of special rock and soil and the theoretical methods of safety warning, the development of a new generation of large-scale test equipment and monitoring and warning technology and equipment, the development and application of intelligent platforms for safety warning and disaster prevention throughout the life cycle of major projects, and the development of ecological restoration technology and engineering protection of new functional materials.
