Biography

C Féart, PhD, HDR, full time researcher at Inserm (France), leader of the topic “Nutrition, Health and Aging” in the team Lifelong Exposures, Health and Aging in the BPH INSERM U1219 since 2016. C Féart is PI of several past and ongoing projects, including European grants. Supervisor of four PhD students since 2018 and associate editor of Nutrients since 2018. Her research focuses on the relationship between nutrition and food intake and the onset of geriatric syndromes. She is mainly interested in the potential benefit of specific nutrients, foods, and dietary patterns on the risk of developing mental diseases and physical frailty and the underlying mechanisms, including the role of gut microbiota and inflammation, on these relationships. In particular, she observed that greater adherence to a Mediterranean diet was associated with slower cognitive decline among older adults, and that adequate D vitamin status would be a preventive strategy to fight Alzheimer’s. The Mediterranean diet also appears to be associated with a lower risk of frailty, even among the oldest population (>80 years). She leveraged from the large Three-City population-based cohort to develop this research with strong collaboration among colleagues from the Bordeaux Population Health Research Centre and from international networks (Frailomic for instance).
