Purpose: To analyze the effect of COVID-19 sanitary measures on Pacific white shrimp aquaculture productivity.Methodological design: A total of 102 managers, whose average age was 45.4 years (SD=8.85), were surveyed. 101 aquaculture farms in the State of Sinaloa were taken into consideration for this study. The farms are located in the cities of Ahome, Guasave, Angostura, Navolato, Elota, Cospita, Culiacán, Mazatlán, El Rosario and Escuinapa. A structural equation model was used for the analysis of the results with the objective of testing the effect of the preventive measures of COVID-19 on the productivity of shrimp aquaculture. Results: The confirmatory factor analysis proved that COVID-19 preventive measures positively and significantly influence shrimp productivity. By adopting sanitary measures, organizations not only buffer against the negative impact of the pandemic, but can also stimulate effective responses for good productive performance.Research limitations: The size of the sample comprised by the organizations studied, limits the scope in generalizing the results on a large scale; however, certain data can be utilized by aquaculture organizations in Sinaloa.Findings: Agri-food systems should take advantage of the juncture which the disease -COVID-19- is leaving worldwide since its optimal functioning will contribute not only to the growth of the organizations but also to regional development.
This study validates and applies a quantitative recommendation scale designed to assess the impact of strategies adopted by small and medium-sized aquaculture enterprises (SMEs) during the COVID-19 pandemic. A case study was conducted on the performance of two aquaculture models under crisis conditions: organized shrimp farms in Sinaloa (Mexico) and individual artisanal aquaculture SMEs in El Banco, Magdalena (Colombia). The methodological approach combined a cross-sectional survey, descriptive statistics, Cronbach’s alpha, and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) to evaluate the scale’s reliability and construct validity. Results from Sinaloa revealed strong positive correlations between productivity, market adaptation, technological adoption, and contingency strategies, with the highest association observed between contingency strategies and productivity (). In contrast, SMEs in El Banco exhibited lower integration of technologies and weaker links between strategic responses and productivity, reflecting structural constraints such as informality, limited institutional support, and reduced access to financing. The scale showed an acceptable but preliminary level of internal consistency () and acceptable factorial indices for an exploratory validation phase. Complementary convergent validity measures (CR and AVE) indicated low internal coherence, which reinforces the preliminary nature of the scale and the need for future refinement. Due to the heterogeneous nature and descriptive treatment of the Colombian data, the cross-country analysis is interpreted as exploratory rather than strictly statistical. Even so, the findings highlight that technological adoption, market diversification, and the implementation of health protocols were decisive for maintaining resilience and productivity during crisis scenarios. This research contributes theoretically, by providing initial evidence supporting an original measurement instrument, and practically, by offering policymakers and entrepreneurs a contextualized diagnostic tool to design evidence-based strategies that strengthen organizational resilience and sustainable productivity in aquaculture SMEs. Further validation in other regions and productive sectors is recommended to confirm the scale’s broader generalizability.

Objective: To know the conformation and main characteristics of the social networks of knowledge of shrimp aquaculture in the north of Sinaloa, from the case of the leading municipality in production. Methodology: the information was obtained through an own survey applied to a sample of 58 shrimp farmers located in the municipality of Ahome, Sinaloa; This information was processed using the tools of social networks analysis (SNA) for the construction of graphs and the estimation of global measures of the network. Results: the study manages to graphically represent the knowledge network of Ahome shrimp farmers and appreciate that it has a star-like structure, where almost all producers are mainly and directly connected to two central points, a government health agency and a civil association that promotes technology transfer. Limitations. The reconstruction of the network, in its structure or composition, is carried out based on a limited sample size. Conclusions: the centralization of the knowledge network has important implications in terms of technological learning, assimilation of new knowledge and technologies, adoption and diffusion of technological innovations; the positioning of individual actors and the way in which they are connected to other actors in the network also have important implications in terms of innovation and technological adoption.

Objetive. to determine if the knowledge to start a business influences the attitude towards entrepreneurships of students from two universities. Method: quantitative, correlational, simple random sampling, 248 participants, data collection by questionnaire perceived barriers to student entrepreneurship, use of google forms in compliance with ethical aspects and statistical treatment by SPSS. The limitations of the study include its focus on two universities, which prevents generalizing the findings to the entire Mexican student population. It is recommended that practical, access to findings and mentoring strategies be strengthened. The originality of the paper lies in its comparative analysis between publics universities from different socioeconomics contexts and in the exploration of the gap between entrepreneurial attitude and lack of practical knowledge in students.
Business resilience and knowledge absorption capacity are decisive for the long-term success of small and medium-sized enterprises, enabling them to adapt and remain competitive and operational in times of uncertainty.Objective. To identify key factors that affect resilience and knowledge absorption capacity in aquaculture organizations in the municipality of Ahome, Sinaloa.Methodological design. Using a quantitative approach, an analysis was conducted using a Likert scale to assess the dimensions of resilience and knowledge absorption. The results show that organizations have a strong capacity for foresight and knowledge acquisition, although they face challenges in adaptation, transformation, and exploitation. The main limitation of the study is that the sample is concentrated in a single region or sector, which restricts the generalization of the results. The main finding indicates that organizations are strong in foresight and knowledge acquisition, but have significant weaknesses in adaptation, transformation, and exploitation of knowledge, which limits their ability to generate innovation and competitive advantage.
