Peter Cronkleton is Senior Scientist (Anthropologist) at the Center for International Forestry Research conducting research on forest governance and livelihoods, forest policy, and co-management mechanisms. He is a graduate of the University of Florida (M.A. 1993, Ph.D. 1998) and is currently based in Peru, and he has worked as a researcher and development practitioner in Latin America and Africa for more than 22 years. Dr. Cronkleton is a specialist in community forestry development, forest tenure, social movements, and participatory approaches for capacity building. Over the past two decades, his research has concentrated on smallholder and community forestry, policy reform, and on institutional change and gender in forest communities.
