He completed the residency in Emergency Medicine at Dokuz Eylul University, Türkiye in 1998, as the first emergency medicine specialist in Türkiye. He attended the ‘International Emergency Medicine’ fellowship at Penn State University in 2005. He worked as chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Acıbadem University from 2009-2015. He is currently a full professor and chair at Taksim Education and Research Hospital in İstanbul. He was served as a founder and board member of the Emergency Medical Association (EMAT) of Turkey. He published around 200 articles in scientific journals. He is currently the “EM Section Editor” of the journal ‘Signa Vitae’ which is in the SCI-Expanded list. Recently, three book projects entitled "Demystifying COVID-19: Understanding the disease, Its Diagnosis and Treatment” and “Cardiac Care and COVID-19: Perspectives in Medical Practice” and “Abdominal Pain: Essential Diagnosis and Management in Acute Medicine” were published by Bentham Science Publishers. He also serves as an instructor of the American Heart Association-based Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Course. His publications have been cited 2120 times so far (H index = 25). His research interests are resuscitation, advanced life support, pain management, geriatric emergency medicine, disaster medicine, trauma, toxicology, and lastly, COVID-19.
