Dr. Huan-Cheng Chang received his B.S. degree from National Taiwan University in 1981 and his Ph.D. degree from Indiana University at Bloomington in 1990. He joined the Institute of Atomic and Molecular Sciences of Academia Sinica in 1994, was promoted to a Research Fellow in 2000, and is now a Distinguished Research Fellow. His research interests are focused on the development of new methods, tools, and technologies based on physical chemistry and applying them to solve problems of biological and medicinal significance. He pioneered the development of fluorescent nanodiamonds (FNDs) for biomedical applications in 2005 and has published more than 150 papers on nanodiamonds and related topics since then. In 2019, he published a monograph entitled Fluorescent Nanodiamonds, which serves as the most comprehensive reference of this study in the field. His current research activities are devoted to the development and use of surface-functionalized FNDs as immunodiagnostic devices.
