The health care sector is an area of social and economic interest in several countries; therefore, there have been lots of efforts in the use of electronic health records. Nevertheless, there is evidence suggesting that these systems have not been adopted as it was expected, and although there are some proposals to support their adoption, the proposed support is not by means of information and communication technology which can provide automatic tools of support. The aim of this study is to identify the critical adoption factors for electronic health records by physicians and to use them as a guide to support their adoption process automatically.

Artificial intelligence (AI) systems to generate images from natural language are a game changer in graphic design. However, in visual persuasive communication, the image is not just a drawing, but is the message itself. It arises from the need for understanding how AI systems could be adopted in the design of visual communication. Thus, this article presents a model that describes the theoretical–methodological factors present in the design of persuasive visual discourses, which arises from a qualitative study with an analysis of grounded theory from the opinion of experts in the essential areas for visual communication. Thus, we propose a model to guide the design process of persuasive messages throughout seven stages. Additionally, an analysis for contributing to the orderly and informed incorporation of technologies, techniques, and methods relevant to each stage is presented.

The use of Intelligent Tutoring Systems has become more common in autodidactic education. There is significant work about the integration of the dialogue and affective characteristics to these systems. However, this integration could complicate the Intelligent Tutoring Systems structure. For that reason it is important to take care about architectural view of these systems, in order to organize the modular structure of these systems. Moreover, the architecture is an important element from the perspective of Software Engineering because it is a logical core of any software system. Based on this, in this paper we present a system called TIPOO, which our implementation of an intelligent tutoring system. Also we present the integration of an affective dialogue module (TIPOO Chat) into TIPOO. We describe the architecture of both systems. The design and implementation of these systems are described, looking forward making the development of Intelligent Tutoring Systems an easier, faster and standardized process.

In recent days, we live the mobile health revolution as medical apps are flourishing in the marketplace for all the different mobile devices. Diabetes apps are the most prevalent chronic disease-specific apps available commercially for Android or iOS. This study presents a selection through a holistic evaluation of some mobile apps for preventing or managing diabetes. After the selection, the study presents an evaluation from two perspectives: 1) mapping the implemented persuasion strategies in the mobile apps and 2) a usability evaluation with real users. This paper presents an evaluation of six mobile apps (Diabetes Prevent, my Sugar, Intellin Diabetes, Social Diabetes, Glucose Buddy, and One-Touch Reveal) for diabetes management or prevention. The results reveal that most of the apps are focus on controlling the disease. They had an accepted SUS score. However, they are not implementing the persuasion strategies as it should be done for medical systems. These findings suggested that it is essential to develop mobile applications based on international regulations towards covering aspects such as diagnosis, prevention, monitoring, treatment, and alleviation of disease. Furthermore, the applications should include persuasion strategies and integrating usability guidelines to change user’s attitudes and behaviors and improve user satisfaction in mobile apps.
