Encrypted traffic classification is receiving widespread attention from researchers and industrial companies. However, the existing methods only extract flow-level features, failing to handle short flows because of unreliable statistical properties, or treat the header and payload equally, failing to mine the potential correlation between bytes. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a byte-level traffic graph construction approach based on point-wise mutual information (PMI), and a model named Temporal Fusion Encoder using Graph Neural Networks (TFE-GNN) for feature extraction. In particular, we design a dual embedding layer, a GNN-based traffic graph encoder as well as a cross-gated feature fusion mechanism, which can first embed the header and payload bytes separately and then fuses them together to obtain a stronger feature representation. The experimental results on two real datasets demonstrate that TFE-GNN outperforms multiple state-of-the-art methods in fine-grained encrypted traffic classification tasks.

With the development of application services providers and cloud computing, more and more small- and medium-sized business enterprises use software services and even infrastructure services provided by professional information service companies to replace all or part of their information systems (ISs). These information service companies provide applications, such as data storage, computing processes, document sharing and even management information system services as public resources to support the business process management of their customers. However, no cloud computing service vendor can satisfy the full functional IS requirements of an enterprise. As a result, enterprises often have to simultaneously use systems distributed in different clouds and their intra enterprise ISs. Thus, this article presents a framework to integrate applications deployed in public clouds and intra ISs. A run-time platform is developed and a cross-computing environment process modelling technique is also developed to improve the feasibility of ISs under hybrid cloud computing environments.

Edge computing provides the potential to improve users’ Quality of Experience (QoE) in ever-increasing video delivery. However, existing edge-based solutions cannot fully utilize the edge computing power and storage capacity. This paper proposes VI deo S uper-resolution and CA ching (VISCA), an edge-assisted adaptive video streaming solution, which integrates super-resolution and edge caching to improve users’ QoE. We design a novel edge-based ABR algorithm that makes bitrate and video chunk source decisions by considering network conditions, QoE objectives, and edge resource availability jointly. VISCA utilizes super-resolution to enhance the cached low-quality video at the edge. The super-resolution models used are trained for the most popular videos only in order to achieve quality improvements with a fraction of the computation. A novel cache strategy is also adopted to maximize caching efficiency. To assess the performance of VISCA, an implemented prototype of VISCA was deployed in synthetic and real network contexts. Compared with the existing video streaming solutions, VISCA improves video quality by 28.2%-251.2% and reduces rebuffering time by 16.1%-95.6% in all considered scenarios.
