Ethanol extract (EE) from Periplaneta americana (PA) is the main ingredient of Kangfuxin, which is a popular traditional chinese medicine (TCM) and has long been used for the clinical treatment of burns, wounds and ulcers. We compared the wound-healing activities of three extracts of PA using cutaneous wound-healing in mice as the bioactivity model. These three extracts were EE, total polysaccharide and total protein. We also tracked bioactive fractions in the EE by organic reagent extraction, column chromatography and HPLC. Seven compounds were successfully identified from the water elution fraction of the EE of PA using UPLC-MS. Among these compounds, four compounds (P2, P3, P4, P5(1)) were first reported in PA. Some of these compounds have been previously reported to have various pharmacological activities that could contribute to the high wound-healing activity of PA.
In this study, a new ternary choline chloride-deep eutectic solvent was used to efficiently extract bioactive polysaccharides fromporia cocosassisted by the new tool of the far infrared radiation (FIR) together with hot air circulation (HAC).

The increasing demand for energy has led to the development of biomass conversion technologies. As the most abundant biomass on Earth, cellulose is generally chosen as the primary research target for biomass conversion. In this review, gasification and pyrolysis of cellulose are briefly discussed and hydrolysis is then considered in detail. Moreover, many new developments and applications are introduced in cellulose conversion in recent years. Among these technologies, heterogeneous catalysis, hydrolysis in ionic liquid and hydrolysis by hot-compressed water exhibit a promising potential in cellulose conversion. Therefore, they are well recognized as powerful, fast and efficient techniques, becoming the focus of intensive research.
Anthocyanins are a class of naturally occurring polyphenols which have been most widely studied in recent decades for the rapid development of relative techniques. This article first reviews the various anthocyanin resources including fruits, flowers, vegetables and beverages. Besides the direct extraction from natural resources, anthocyanins can also be obtained by semi- or total synthesis. After the introduction of new representative anthocyanins found in the past few years and the major relationships between structures and stability, modern separation and analysis technologies in related studies were summarised, which play an important role in chemical researches of anthocyanins.
