Prof. Patrick Ming-Kuen Tang is an Associate Professor at the Department of Anatomical and Cellular Pathology, Chinese University of Hong Kong. He completed both his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees at the Department of Biochemistry at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He was awarded the China Exchange Fellowship from Cancer Research UK and continued his postdoctoral training at the University of Oxford. Through single-cell bioinformatics and artificial intelligence, his team has discovered many interesting phenomena, including a new neuron–immune axis, “macrophage-to-neuron-like-cell transition” (MNT). These cutting-edge discoveries are currently being translated into novel immunotherapies to address unmet clinical needs such as cancer pain, drug resistance, and kidney failure.
