Throughout his career, I have led numerous field expeditions in several countries, including very many to tropical regions of the world. The data collected, and the understanding of the organisms obtained has formed the basis of my research on mammals, particularly on bats, which has been consistently complimented with genetic data. This combination has led to breakthroughs in our understanding of the ecology and evolution of many species through the identification of cryptic species, and through a more accurate understanding of the biology of the species.
