Biography

I am a Full Professor at the University of Criminal Investigation and Police Studies. I obtained my PhD in 2011 from the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, University of Belgrade, Serbia. My research focuses on the synthesis and design of polymer matrices suitable for the encapsulation and immobilization of various active substances while preserving their three-dimensional structural organization and functional properties. During 2016–2017, I spent several months at the University of Michigan working on the project “Design of a 3D Hydrogel System for Ovarian Follicle Culture”, in collaboration with Professor Ariella Shikanov from the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Macromolecular Science and Engineering. Since February 1, 2016, I have held the title of Visiting Professor at the University of Michigan. Since October 2016, I have served as Head of the Forensic Polymer Section, where my research focuses on the development and application of polymer and biopolymer materials for the detection and enhancement of latent fingerprints and palmprints. My research interests also include biomaterial design, cell–biomaterial interactions, and innovative applications of biopolymers in forensic science and chemical engineering. I actively collaborate with international research groups, including colleagues from the École des sciences criminelles in Lausanne, Switzerland, contributing to knowledge exchange and interdisciplinary research in forensic and analytical sciences.
