Ibtisam E. Tothill was a full Professor of Bio-Nano Sensors, at Cranfield University, Cranfield, Bedfordshire, MK43 0AL, England, United Kingdom. Currently, she is a visiting staff member at the University. She has a Ph.D. in analytical biochemistry from Cranfield University, where she conducted original research in enzyme catalysis and its application in biotechnology and diagnostics developments. She has an MSc in microbial biochemistry and was awarded the top student award for her BSc degree. She is a member of the Biochemical Society (UK), a member of the editorial advisory board of the British Journal of Medical Practitioners (BJMP), a Member of the editorial board of the Journal of Biological Physics and Chemistry (JBPC), and member of the BioSIG Steering Group (Sensors and Instrumentation KTN) and the Society of Authors. In addition, she has served as MSc course director, associate dean for the Facility of Medicine and Biosciences, and as director for SWIG Ltd., Her research interests are in the field of analytical biochemistry and sensor technology, focussing on the design and development of highly specific advanced diagnostics and bioelectronics “biosensors” and the interface between inorganic transducer surfaces and biological/biomimetic specie.
