With the network methods and random matrix theory, we investigate the interaction structure of communities in financial markets. In particular, based on the random matrix decomposition, we clarify that the local interactions between the business sectors (subsectors) are mainly contained in the sector mode. In the sector mode, the average correlation inside the sectors is positive, while that between the sectors is negative. Further, we explore the time evolution of the interaction structure of the business sectors, and observe that the local interaction structure changes dramatically during a financial bubble or crisis.
Based on the daily data of the American and Chinese stock markets, the dynamic behavior of a financial network with static and dynamic thresholds is investigated. Compared with the static threshold, the dynamic threshold suppresses the large fluctuation induced by the cross correlation of individual stock prices and leads to a stable topological structure in the dynamic evolution. Long-range time correlations are revealed for the average clustering coefficient, average degree and cross correlation of degrees. The dynamic network shows a two-peak behavior in the degree distribution. Contents
Pinning of spiral waves by defects in cardiac muscle may cause permanent tachycardia. We numerically study the removal of a pinned spiral by a localized stimulus at the boundary of a two-dimensional excitable medium. It is shown that target waves may be generated by an external local force, and then the target waves will interact with the pinned spiral. When the external force is appropriately chosen, the generated target waves may suppress the pinned spiral, and the system is finally dominated by the target waves.
