Prof. Dimitrios Georgakopoulos received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Houston, Houston, TX, USA. He is a Full Professor of Computer Science with the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology, Swinburne University of Technology, Hawthorn, VIC, Australia, and the Inaugural Director of the IoT Lab in the university’s Digital Innovation Capability Platform. He also leads the Industry 4.0 Program at Swinburne’s Manufacturing Futures Research Institute. Before that, he served as a Research Director from 2008 to 2014 at CSIRO’s ICT Centre, Canberra, ACT, Australia, and as a Professor at RMIT University, Melbourne, VIC, Australia, from 2014 to 2016. Prior to joining CSIRO, he held research and management positions in several industrial laboratories in the USA, including Telcordia Technologies, Red Bank, NJ, USA; Microelectronics and Computer Corporation, Austin, TX, USA; GTE Laboratories, Boston, Boston, MA, USA; and Bell Communications Research (Bellcore), Piscataway, NJ, USA.
