Dr. Joo Eun Chung is a Professor at the Graduate School of Advanced Science and Technology, Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST). She received her Ph.D. from Waseda University in 1995 and has since specialized in biomaterials and supramolecular assemblies for controlled drug delivery. In 2003, she joined the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) in Singapore, where she developed green tea catechin–based nanocarriers that possess intrinsic therapeutic activity and synergize with diverse drugs. This pioneering work addresses critical limitations and unmet needs in current pharmacotherapy. Building on this platform technology, she has established nanocarrier systems for a wide range of applications, including cancer and ocular therapies, which have led to publications in leading journals, numerous patents, and technology licensing.
