Meer Mohammed Ali retired as Scientist 'G' and Group Director, Atmospheric and Ocean Sciences Group, National Remote Sensing Center, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), in November 2012. Later, their organization honoured them with a prestigious fellowship of Dr. Brahmaprakash Professor at the same center for two more years. They also served as Executive Director, International CLIVAR Monsoon Project Office, Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune, India. They were a visiting professor at the Central University of Hyderabad and an adjunct faculty at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar, besides at Bhavnagar University and Gujarat University. They have the experience of guiding Ph.D. students. Their latest research is to use ocean mean temperature (OMT) in place of SST for cyclone and monsoon predictions. OMT, derived from altimetry and radiometry, is a new ocean parameter that they have conceptualized. This parameter has a high score compared to El Nino, SST, and IOD in monsoon prediction. Although they have crossed 66 years, they are still active, which is evident from their recent research publications. Presently, they have an honorary position of Research Scientist at Florida State University (https://www.coaps.fsu.edu/contact/our-people/scientists).
