Biography

Dr. Irfan Ullah Khan is a plant molecular biologist and crop biotechnology researcher with expertise in plant metabolism, functional genomics, and advanced genome editing technologies for sustainable crop improvement. Dr. Khan earned Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Nanjing Agricultural University, China, and subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at Jiangsu University and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, focusing on molecular mechanisms governing stress tolerance and metabolic regulation in plants. My research integrates plant genetics, transcriptomics, and precision genome editing approaches, including CRISPR/Cas and prime editing systems, to enhance crop productivity and resistance to abiotic stresses and environmental contaminants. My work particularly addresses plant responses to heavy metals, and sustainable agricultural adaptation. Dr. Khan has published extensively in internationally recognized journals, including Journal of Cleaner Production, Ecotoxicology and Environmental Safety, Environmental Management. These publications contribute to advancing environmentally sustainable agriculture and molecular breeding strategies for climate-resilient crops. My current research interests include plant metabolic engineering, stress physiology, genome editing, epigenetic regulation, and eco-friendly crop improvement technologies.
