Dr Amirul Islam is a senior lecturer at Swinburne University of Technology, a senior research fellow (honorary) at the University of Melbourne and the founder of a non-government organisation (NGO) in Bangladesh. Dr Islam completed his PhD in Biostatistics at The University of Queensland. He has 132 peer-reviewed publications. Dr Islam leads several population-based studies looking at NCDs in rural Bangladesh. He is one of the academic editors of PLoS One and another specialised journal, “Eye”, the official journal of the Royal College of Ophthalmology, United Kingdom.
