The “defocused transmit-focused receive” (DTFR) mode in the distributed multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar network is very effective in multitarget tracking. In this mode, a completely defocused beam is transmitted and a focused receive beam is synthesized so that the MIMO radar is capable of tracking targets independently. A joint target assignment and power allocation (TAPA) strategy is developed for multiple distributed MIMO radar networks in cluttered environment using the DTFR mode. Our aim is to achieve the better system tracking accuracy under the constraints of receive beam direction capability and power budget. We derive the posterior Cramer-Rao lower bound (PCRLB) and adopt it as the objective function, since it quantifies the precision of target state estimates. It is shown that the TAPA problem is a mixed integer programming and NP-hard problem, where two involved parameters, i.e., the target-radar assignment and power allocation, are both coupled in the objective and in the constraints. By introducing an intermediate variable, we propose an efficient two-step-based solution for solving this problem. The simulation results show the superior performance and adaptivity compared with existing algorithms.
Smeared spectrum (SMSP) jamming is a new type of distance false-target jamming. It consists of multiple sub-pulses, which results in dense false targets at the radar receiver and affects the detection of target signal. Aiming at the suppression of SMSP jamming, in this paper we propose a fast jamming suppression method based on the time-frequency domain according to the time-frequency distribution characteristic of SMSP jamming. This method completely suppresses SMSP jamming in the time-frequency domain, retains the time-frequency points of the remaining target signal, uses the compensation method to obtain the lost target signal, and then restores the time-frequency distribution characteristic of the target signal. It will not produce jamming sidelobe after the recovered signal matched filtering in the time domain. Moreover, we can obtain the Doppler frequency in the time-frequency domain, which can be adopted in practical engineering applications. The simulation results illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
Self-defense smart noise jamming can automatically aim a signal frequency and obtain antenna gain and matching filtering processing gain, posing a huge threat to the normal performance of radar. In response to this situation, this article conducts an in-depth analysis of two typical smart noise jamming methods: noise convolution jamming methods and noise product jamming methods. The distribution characteristics of the two jamming methods in both time–frequency dimensions and their internal time–frequency relationships are analyzed. Based on this, a self-defense smart noise jamming suppression method based on pulse frequency stepping is proposed. This method obtains the true distance information of the target based on the phase difference caused by frequency stepping between adjacent pulses and uses this information to construct a filter to filter the radar echo, achieving jamming suppression. Simulation experiments have verified the effectiveness of this method.

Since sky wave over-the-horizon radar is seriously affected by transient interference, a transient interference suppression method based on an improved Teager-Kaiser energy operator and fuzzy reasoning is proposed. Initially, due to the extraction of the information entropy of slow time samples, the resolution ability of the energy operator to short-term fluctuation characteristics is improved and used to more accurately locate transient interference. Then, four evaluation indexes are constructed to quantify the confidence of the data reconstruction results obtained via the autoregressive, subspace and smoothing methods. Finally, Dempster and Shafer evidence theory is introduced to conduct fuzzy reasoning on the various reconstruction results, and comprehensive results are obtained. The experimental results show that our proposed method has evident advantages in locating weak interference, preventing clutter broadening and maintaining high-speed target energy.
