My major research interest focuses on nutrition and immunity, in particular on the evaluation of the immunomodulatory activity of probiotic bacteria or complex microbial communities in both in vitro and in vivo models. In vitro studies concerned the protective activity of probiotics and other natural substances against inflammatory challenge in intestinal cells. Recent research activities deal with the interaction between nutrients, microbiota and the intestinal immune system in mouse models.
