Daan Lenstra (Amsterdam, the Netherlands, 1947) received his M.Sc. in theoretical physics from the University of Groningen (the Netherlands) and his Ph.D. from Delft University of Technology (the Netherlands). Since 1979, he has been researching topics in quantum electronics, physics of lasers, and condensed matter. He is currently an Emeritus Professor with the Photonics Integration Group, Eindhoven University of Technology (the Netherlands). He has over 400 scientific publications on various topics, mostly on semiconductor lasers and nonlinear laser dynamics.
