Prof. Yong Sun Lee obtained his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD degrees from the Department of Microbiology, Seoul National University, Seoul, Republic of Korea in 1993, 1995, and 1998, respectively. From 2002 to 2003, he worked as a Research Associate at the Department of Pathology, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, USA. From 2003 to 2008, he worked as a Research Associate at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics, University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA, USA. From 2009 to 2017, he worked as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, TX, USA. He is currently a Professor at the Department of Cancer Biomedical Science, National Cancer Center Graduate School of Cancer Science and Policy (NCC-GCSP). His long-term goal is to expand the knowledge of ncRNAs. His scientific achievements include: discovery and extensive study of a human ncRNA nc886, discovery of tRNA-derived RNA Fragments, and the functional study of several miRNAs.
