Mounir Louhaichi holds a Ph.D. and a M.Sc. from the department of Rangeland Ecology & Management at Oregon State University (OSU, USA). Currently he holds a principal scientist position and team Leader for the Rangeland Ecology & Forages (REF) at the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA). Dr Louhaichi has a proven track record of more than 25 years in terrestrial ecological restoration and landscape ecology. He has a solid background in assessing and monitoring rangeland health using advanced geospatial tools (certified GIS professional). He has authored and co-authored more than 200 scientific and technical publications including peer reviewed papers, conference proceedings, training manuals and copyrighted / patented scientific software and hardware. In January 1st 2015, he was offered a courtesy faculty member in the Department of Animal and Rangeland Sciences at OSU and since July 2016 he was elected vice president of the International Rangeland Congress. He is also the ICARDA focal point for the Cactus Network and the International Land Coalition. His interest would be on a systems thinking approach to managing resources.
