The steep rise of demand of petroleum based fuel is because of rapid and fast industrialization of automotive sector. There are limited reserves for petroleum based fuels. These limited reserves are located in the certain regions of the world. Therefore the countries those are not having the sufficient stock of petroleum based fuel, are facing the problems of increase cost of fuel which mainly due to the cost involved in the import of the petroleum based fuel. Hence it is required to find out and investigate the other resources of the alternative fuels, which can be produced from nearby and locally available sources such as Alcohol, Biodiesel, Vegetable oil etc. Methyl or ethyl esters of fatty acids produced from vegetable oil or an animal fat is called biodiesel. Non edible oil or animal fats are the main recourses for production of biodiesel such as Jatropha, Palm, Marine fish oil, Soybean, Cottonseed etc. Biodiesel blends are prepared in any proportion with diesel to use in a conventional diesel engine. By using biodiesel in an engine there is a significant reduction in the harmful pollutants in the environment. This paper reviews the production, properties, performance and emission analysis of different feedstock of blends of biodiesel and experimental work carried out in the various parts of the world

Objectives:-To presents the literature review on effect of biodiesel additives on properties, performance and on emission. Method:-In the current paper reviews are taken from previous years paper which necessitates the need of addition of additives in the blends of biodiesel and studied the its effect on properties , performance and emissions. Emissions from the diesel powered vehicles mostly damaged the earth's environment and also increased the overall earth's temperature. This attracts the need of alternative fuels in the field of transportation sector. Past inventions and research showed that Biodiesel can be used as an alternative fuel for the diesel engine. Biodiesel have good combustion characteristics because of their long chain hydrocarbon structure. However biodiesel possesses few disadvantages such as lower heating value, higher flow ability, much high density and not able to flow at low temperature. Higher rate of fuel consumption is identified and higher level of NOx emissions when biodiesel used in an engine as an alternative fuels. Findings:-Different additives such as antioxidants, improvers for cetane number, cold flow properties improver ,etc were investigated by the many researcher and scientists and added in the different feedstock of biodiesel or blends of biodiesel with diesel in different proportions. Directly or indirectly fuel additives can improve the reduction in the emissions, improve the fuel economy, and reduce the dependency of the one's nation on other. Performances of biodiesel vehicles were drastically improved because of additioninthe blends of biodiesel with diesel fuel in specific percentages to meet the international emission standards. Addition of additives in the biodiesel or in the blends of biodiesel basically changes the high temperature and low temperature flow properties of blends of biodiesel. Current paper finds and compares properties of different additives and its effect on blends of biodiesel properties, performance and on emissions from diesel engines. Improvement:-This paper presents the literature review on effect of biodiesel additives on properties, performance and on emission.

In last few years in automobile sector there is a emerging need of an alternative fuel because of depletion of the stock of fossil fuels in all over the world. Bio-diesel in this regard contested a strong alternative to the conventional fuels. Bio-diesel contains 9-10% higher oxygen and higher cetane number which allows its good combustion in the combustion chambers of the engine. But poor hot flow and cold flow properties of biodiesel restricts their applications in the field of automotives. So the blends of biodiesel in percentage with diesel and ethanol as an properties enhancer additives are used in the biodiesel/diesel blend. Reduced viscosity, higher calorific value, improved flash and fire point and enhanced cold flow properties of the blends with ethanol as an additive, enhanced the combustion and reduced harmful emissions from the engine. Experimental work presented in this paper is by considering cottonseed biodiesel as raw feedstock blended with diesel and 5% ethanol. Properties were investigated experimentally as per IS 1448 standards. Trials were conducted on the single cylinder diesel. Results show that there are significant improvements in the properties of the blend, performance, combustion and reduced harmful emission from the engine. Experimental investigation reported that ethanol as an additives in the blends of cotton-seed biodiesel with diesel reduces kinematic viscosity by 7%, cold flow properties by 9% to 10% . But on the other hand but density of the blend is increased by 3% and higher heating value is decreased by 9%.

To increase the performance of the thermal and flow devices with respect to the heat and flow characteristics in a pipe, different techniques are widely used such as modification in the fluid flow and modifications in the pipe geometries. Several boosting modified tubes, including a finned tube, a tube with ribs, a tube with spirally roughened walls, a corrugated tube, a fluted tube, a helical tube, an elliptical axis tube, and others, act to increase the turbulence in fluid flow and are the examples of modifications in the geometries. As compared to the modification in the pipe geometries with modification in the fluid flow, the fluid flow modifications attract more cost and most are the techniques are not so economical. In the current paper, the comparative analysis is studied between the simple pipe and pipe with dimples for heat and flow characteristics enhancements with the help of computational techniques. For pipe with dimples, the results were more satisfying as compared with the simple pipe. The maximum velocity build-up in the dimple pipe was 0.753m/s whereas in the simple pipe it was 0.604m/s, , that means there is a 24.66% increase in velocity in dimple pipe as compared with simple pipe. Also, vorticity was found to be more in the dimple pipe and which was 126000/s as compared with simple pipe 389/s , which means more than 100% increase in the vorticity. Heat transfer enhancement in the dimple pipe was observed in terms of an increase in the temperature and found to be a maximum of 418 K as compared with simple pipe only 409 K,which means that there is a 17.60% increase in the temperature in the dimple pipe. The computational study concludes that there were enhancements in the heat and flow characteristics of fluid flow in the dimple pipe as compared with the simple pipe.
