Background: Since the end of 2019, Corona Virus Disease 2019, also known as COVID-19, has broken out in various countries. However, the change of China's COVID-19 prevention and control policy and the sharp increase in the number of infected people are making the teenagers have post-traumatic reactions. Negative post-traumatic reactions include: post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety. Positive post-traumatic reaction mainly refers to post-traumatic growth (PTG). The purpose of this study is to explore the post-traumatic reaction, which refers to PTSD, depression, anxiety and the co-occurrence pattern of growth after trauma and to further explore the influence of family function on different categories of Post-traumatic Reactions. Methods: Latent profile analysis (LPA) was used to explore the co-occurrence of PTSD, depression, anxiety, and PTG. Multiple logistics regression was used to analyze the influence of family function on different categories of post-traumatic response. Results: There were three categories of post-traumatic reactions in adolescents infected with COVID-19 adolescents infected with COVID-19, namely: growth class, struggling class, and pain class. Multivariate Logistic regression showed that the growth class and struggling class were affected by problem solving and behavior control in family function, while the growth class and pain class were affected by problem solving, roles, behavior control, and general functioning. Multiple logistic regression showed that the growth class and struggling class were affected by problem solving and roles. Conclusions: The findings of this study provide evidence for the identification of high-risk individuals and the provision of effective interventions in clinical practice, as well as the influence of family functioning on the different categories of PTSD among adolescents infected with COVID-19.

The purpose of this study was to develop a digital self-harm scale suitable for Chinese adolescents, and to test its reliability and validity. Through semi-structured interview, literature analysis and expert evaluation, the initial questionnaire was developed, and 1651 students from three middle schools in Jilin Province were selected for questionnaire survey. Item analysis and exploratory factor analysis were carried out, and 843 students were selected for confirmatory factor analysis, convergent validity, discrimination validity, criterion validity, content consistency reliability and retest reliability. The results showed that the digital self-harm scale consisted of eight items divided into two factors, namely External self image harm and Inner self emotional harm. And 73.47% of the total variance was explained. The two-factor structure model fitted well (2χ/df = 4.2, CFI = 0.994, TLI = 0.989, SRMR = 0.01, RMSEA = 0.062). The total score and each factor score of the digital self-harm scale were negatively correlated with sleep duration, and positively correlated with other criteria. The Cronbach α coefficient of the total scale and each factor was 0.938–0.965, and the retest reliability was 0.983–0.991. The Inner self emotional harm dimension has few questions, the relationship and mechanism between digital self-harm and non-suicidal self-injury is not deep enough. The digital self-harm scale developed in this study has good validity and reliability, and can be used as a measurement tool to assess the digital self-harm of Chinese adolescents.

Background: With the accelerating aging of Chinese society, nursing professionals are progressively tasked with providing care for a growing population of elderly patients annually. Concurrently, manifestations of ageism within this professional cohort have become increasingly salient, underscoring an urgent imperative for empirical investigation into this phenomenon within healthcare contexts. Objective: This study aimed to develop and validate a theoretically grounded Ageism Questionnaire for Chinese Nurses (AQN), tailored to actual clinical nursing scenarios. Method: Initial questionnaire items were formulated through a synthesis of extant literature and semi-structured interviews with nursing practitioners. Subsequent refinement and item screening were conducted via the Delphi method. Data were collected between January and March 2025 from nurses engaged in elderly patient care across six public hospitals in Jilin Province.Data were collected using a sociodemographic sheet, Ageism Questionnaire for Nurses, the Fraboni Scale of Ageism, and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale. The psychometric properties of the AQN, encompassing structural validity, content validity, criterion validity, test-retest reliability, and internal consistency reliability, were rigorously evaluated. Results: This study finally developed the Ageism Questionnaire for Chinese Nurses (AQN) with 2 dimensions and 23 items. Exploratory factor analysis verified the dimensions of ignoring elderly patients and rejecting elderly patients in the questionnaire. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the two-dimensional structure of the questionnaire had a good fit. The alpha coefficients for the ignoring elderly patients dimension, rejecting elderly patients dimension, and total score were 0.907, 0.973, and 0.967, respectively. The split-half reliability was 0.864, 0.953, and 0.893, and the retest reliability was 0.889, 0.838, and 0.883, respectively. The criterion validity test results showed that the ignoring elderly patients dimension, rejecting elderly patients dimension, and total ageism attitude score were significantly correlated with work engagement. Conclusion: The AQN exhibits robust psychometric properties, positioning it as a reliable and valid instrument for assessing ageist attitudes among nurses in Chinese healthcare settings.

A 65-year-old man presented with a giant ulcerative and malodorous genital mass rapidly growing for 5 months. On first presentation, he noticed a 3 cm × 2 cm cauliflower-like mass located in the penile dorsal shaft. But, he rejected any operation. Unfortunately, the lesion became aggressive and eventually destroyed the entire penile shaft and urethra within a five-month period. He underwent a radical penectomy, scrotal extended resection, formation of a perineal urethrostomy and left inguinal lymph node biopsy. Pathology revealed poor-differentiated invasive squamous cell carcinoma. The patient had an uneventful recovery.
