Wensheng Hou received his B.S. degree in crop breeding in 1991 and his M.S. degree in crop genetic breeding in 1997 from Northwest Agricultural University. He was awarded a Ph.D. degree in 2001 from the College of Forestry of Northwest A&F University. From 2002 to 2004, he worked as a postdoc at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. In 2004, he became a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and engaged in research on soybean transgenics, gene-editing technology, and soybean molecular breeding. He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed papers and has released 22 soybean cultivars.
